After electing their representatives and senators, most people don’t provide any more guidance as to what specific pieces of legislation they want their congressional representative to vote for or against. While many citizens fully support their party platform, others may have specific concerns with legislation that they feel strongly enough about to want to tell their congressional representatives how they feel and what to do about that legislation.
